Zoll ich mal probieren auch ein baubericht zu machen …

Der CAPO hatte ein schweren trip … die Holzkiste war zerbrochen an die Seiten. Aber auf Ersten blick war alles in Ordnung.

Die Bilder von was da drin war sind die gleiche wie Uwe in sein Bericht hat.

Alricht, I will try to make a construction thread …

It looked like my CAPA had a hard trip … the wooden box was split at the seams, but a quick look showed everything seemed OK.

The pictures of the box and what was in it are almost identical to the post that Uwe already did. (link see the German text)

It is just that the box mine came in was a bit different. The picture was taken after I repaired the box. Looks like they will release a CAPA 4x4 in June

And then did I notice this bend piece … yup, they dropped the box



Hatte ich darüber nicht zuviel sorgen gemacht. Und heute begonnen mit das demontieren, dar zuviel schrauben nicht richtig fest waren. Dann habe ich gesehen das die beiden gebogen waren.

Didn't really worry too much about the bend, and today started taking the pre-assembled bits apart because too many bolts were loose. Then I noticed both middle pieces were bend.

There was rather a lot of play on the axles so I decided to open one up to have a look







Ich denke das ich jetzt das ganze ding demontieren zollte. - Hier noch einige Detail Bilder. Richtig shon gemacht and alles past genau. Nun nicht gut zusammen gesetzt.

Ich weisse nicht ob all die CAPOs so zusammen Gesetz sind oder nur diesen … all in all keine Probleme, macht zehr fiel spass!

I really do not know if all CAPOs are delivered like this or if it was just this one. Not really a problem, having lots of fun!

Dar ich die differentialen geöffnet habe, denke ich um dar fett ein zu spritzen … frage, was denken Sie - Lithium oder Fett für Auto?

Since I will have the lot open, I'm thinking of putting some grease in. What would you recommend … Lithium grease or regular grease for cars?

Sehr schön das du einen Baubericht machst.
Das sieht schon gut aus was du da machst,ich glaube alle Capos sind so zusammen gebaut,man sollte alles überprüfen.
Wenn du die Differrenziale fetten willst dann nehme Silikonfett.
Weiter viel Erfolg.

Hallo Uwe, Danke für den tip. Siliconenfett … muss ich auf ebay kaufen … Hier auf das Insel gar nichts zu finden … So das wird wieder 3 - 4 Woche warten.

So dass geht ein sehr langsamer Baubericht werden. Muss shon warten auf die Servos etc. Dar ist keine Model shop hier.

Gesterns Abend habe ich mein 1kg Eigengewicht Hammer gebraucht! Das letzte was ich gedacht hatte fur ein Model zu gebrauchen. Die Leuten müssen die Kiste von Flugzeug nach unter fallen lassen.

Das is 5mm dick aluminium!

Hi Uwe, thanks for the tip on the silicone grease … will have to purchase is through ebay. Nothing to be found here on the island. Another 3-4 weeks wait, just like for the rest of the bits.

This will be a very longterm construction thread. Already have to wait for the servos etc. No model shop here.

Yesterday evening I had to use my 1kg dead blow hammer! The last tool I thought one would need in model building. Looks like those fellows threw the box off the plane. That is 5 mm thick aluminium!

Gehen wir wieder weiter mit dass demontieren.

Jetzt nimmer wir dass ganze ding aus das Rohr. Schaut sich so an, ganz schmutzig und nicht gerade "glatt" zu drehen. Hat man auch das Elastik nicht montiert so das die Sperrung nicht gut arbeite. - Gutes Ding dass dar extra im Kit sind.

Habe dass dann 3 - 4 gespritzt mit Bremsenreiniger, und dann CorrosionX drauf gemacht. Jetzt dreht's wie Butter. (CorrosionX ist ein anti Rost mittel dass auch reinigt und schmiert. Arbeitet ganz gut)

Decided to take the lot our of the pipe. It was all rather dirty and didn't move smoothly when turned. They also forgot to install the rubber band so that the difflock didn't work well . Good thing they added some extra bits. Doused it 3 - 4 times with brake cleaner and then added a couple of drops of CorrosionX. Now turns smooth as butter. (CorrosionX is a anti rust product that also lubricates. Works wonders.)









Habe auch shon die 2te Achse getan. Dar alles OK.

Die Aufmerksamkeit für Detail sind sehr schon … die pin ein bisschen flach gemach und ist mit eine kleine schraube im platz gehalten!

The attention to detail is really nice. The little pin made a tad flat and is held in place with a small worms crew.




Dar drin alles selbst, nur andere lager. Und alles war nett und arbeitet wie Seide.

OK, hatte den ganze ding demontiert. Wüste noch nicht ob ich das Verteilergetriebe zo lasse oder ouch mal kontrolliere.

Nun alles wieder zusammen bauen und dann wieder mehr Bilder wenn ich mit das richtige Bauen anfange.

Now have to put everything back together. Will post more pictures when I start with the real construction.




Antrieb wieder zusammen. Alles schon fest and arbeitet ganz gut.

Das schwierigste waren die metallen dingen die das Gummi an die Sperre halten.

Quick update, drivetrain all back together again. Works much smoother now. Also no more loose screws …

The worst job was putting the metal clamps back on the rubber boots.

Danke Milan, Dar ich die Bilder genommen hatte für Referenz um dass wieder zusammen zu bauen ist das nicht soviel Arbeit um ein Baubericht zu machen.

Auch bin ich immer Neugierig wie die dingen zusammen gehen, und ich denke das er hier viele sein die das gleiche sind. Ein Baubericht ist immer interessant.

The rear Axle / Die Letzte Achsel



Die Beide stucken ins Getriebe - Der Rote Pfeil : Die Öffnung hier muss nach oben sein (und auch die andere Seite wenn das nicht das Endstück ist), anders geht das nicht zusammen mit der Tube und das sperre Mechanism. (wie sollte ich das wissen?)

Both parts of the axle installed, the red arrow: this hole has to be on top (same for the other side if it isn't the end piece), if not the holes in the side do not match up when you install the connecting tube. The mechanism for the lock will not line up. (don't ask how I know)



Der einfachste weg um alles wieder in den Tube zu setzen … alles in sein pflatz, der Tube darüber, Vorsicht drehen und dann dle schraube für das aktivieren das sperre rein schrauben.

The easiert way to put all back together is to put it upside, add at the bits, carefully slide the connecting tube over it and then turn until you can catch the hole to attach the screw needed for the locking mechanism of the differential.



So sieht das dann aus von oben. man kann sehen wie das an die nächste stuck geht.

Und nach 3 und ein halbe Stunde war es wieder zusammen. All in all habe ich 4 schrauben gefunden die man nicht richtig rein gedreht hatte (cross threaded = Verkantet?). Nicht wichtig, aber doch Schade für die Qualität dieses Model. Der Steckschlüssel von CAPO ist ideal um die Lager aus und ein zu bauen! Muss ich auch wieder sagen, das model macht ganz viel spass daran zu arbeiten.

After 3 and a half hours it was all back together. All in all I found 4 cross threaded screws. Not really that important, but still a bit sad for a model of this quality. The nut driver that comes with the CAPO is perfect for removing or inserting the bearings. Got to say it again, absolutely loads of fun working on this model.

Then the next piece. As you can see, 2 bearings in there! - They did not skimp.

Und mit 3 schrauben oben die auch das stuck für der Befestigung der lenken Stange fest halten (das Drehpunkt hatte eine gleiche Buchse wie die andere Seite)

And with 3 screws on top that also attach the piece that serves to hold the steering rods later. The turn point has a similar treatment with a bushing like the underside.



Und das letzte stuck, das Befestigung Punkt für die Federung. All die stucke zehr schon und präzise bearbeitet.

Jetzt die Lenkung Stangen.

zwei 75 mm, zwei 80 mm, ein 85.5 mm und eine kurze fürs servo.

eine menge Schrauben und die armen.

So the kit comes with two 75 mm, two 80 mm, one 85.5 mm and one short one for the servo. For the rest a bunch of screws and the steering arms.

Und hier was ein kleines Problem. Die enden einiger Stange waren nicht in die gleiche Orientierung. Die waren doch ¼ bis ½ Wende off. Man kanns sehen in der ersten Bild. Wenn man das nicht anspannt dann is das nicht stabil und das ende hatte zuviel spiel. Konnte man losen mit ein Gummi o-ring. Aber wo findet man das? … Lösung: das Gummi von ein 1 cc Insulinspritze! (Eine von unsere Kasten ist Diabetiker)

Here we ran into a little problem. The ends of the steering rods didn't line up … some of them were ¼ to ¼ of a turn off from being in the same orientation. If you leave them loose you get a wobbly and unstable connection because the end has too much play in it. So could be solved with a small rubber o-ring. But where to find? Solution: the rubber bit of a 1cc insulin syringe (one of our cast is diabetic)

Zeit um das alles zu installieren. wie man sehen kann dar sind 2 kurze Schrauben. Die muss man in das halbrunde end gebrauchen. Wenn man dar ein längere Schraube einfuhrt wird das mit denn Betriebe einmischen, und dreht alles dar kaputt. Die mittel lange Schrauben habe ich für an das Lenkung Mechanismus gebraucht, und die lange and die Achse.

Time to screw it together. As you can see there are 2 short screws. These have to go on the half round bit of the bit used to attach the mechanism to the tube! If you use longer screws there, they will interfere with the gearing underneath and will cause severe damage! The in-between screws I used for the actual steering arms and the long ones at the axles.

And here I messed up … wanted to be to fast and made an error on one side … the screw is cross threaded and the head rounded … of course no reserve with the kit will have to come up with a solution - Suggestions welcome

Hallo Stephan.

klasse detaillierter Bericht über ein sehr schönes Modell.

Es gibt viele Möglichkeiten, die Schraube zu entfernen, es kommt natürlich darauf an wie stark der Kopf beschädigt ist und welches Werkzeug Dir zur Verfügung steht:

- Mit einem kleinen Schraubenausdreher.

- einen Versuch Wert: minimal Sekundenkleber an den Sechskantschlüssel geben und den Sechskant in den abgerundeten Sechskant des Schraubenkopfes drücken und gut trocknen lassen. Dann vorsichtig aufdrehen (Vorsichtig: es sollte natürlich kein Sekundenkleber in das Gewinde gelangen)

- Vorsichtig einen Schlitz in den hervorstehenden Kopf fräsen oder sägen und die Schraube mit einem Schlitzschraubendreher aufschrauben.

- Den abgerundeten Sechskant etwas mit einem Bohrer vertiefen und einen geringfügig größeren "scharfen" Sechskantschlüssel vorsichtig einklopfen und aufdrehen

-Wenn gar nichts hilft, dann die Schraube ausbohren und eine neue Schraube mit Mutter verschrauben. Oder, falls die Mutter zu sehen wäre oder, stört, eine Schraube mit geringfügig größerem Gewinde verwenden (falls es sich z. B. um eine M2- Schraube handelt, diese mit einem 2mm- Bohrer ausbohren, ein M2,5 Gewinde schneiden und mit einer Senkkopfschraube M2,5 neu verschrauben, den etwas größeren Senkkopf kleiner feilen oder falls vorhanden mit einer Drehbank kleiner drehen).

Vielen dank für die Vorschläge! Wird das zuerst mal probieren mit Sekunden Kleber, wenn das nicht geht, kommt der Dremel raus für die andere Methoden.

Dan wird es suchen nach ein Gewinde Schneider hier in die Geschäften (aber ich rechne nicht damit das die zo kleine haben) … Habe mir schon einen gefunden auf ebay aber keine Lust um 4 - 5 Wochen zu warten >sigh<

Das Stuck mit den Muttern ist für das Befestigungspunkt, wo sie vergessen haben ein Gewinde zu schneiden. (wäre auch zu gross - eine Öffnung für M2 Gewinde. Die Schrauben sind 1.6)

Ich glaube das ich meinen auch noch einmal auseinander nehmen werde,um alles zu kontrollieren .

Hi Uwe, Danke für die Knupfer shop. Leider senden sie nicht nach Malaysia … aber kann ich immer meine Schwester in Köln fragen die dingen für mich zu bestellen. Sie fragt immer ob ich etwas von EU benötige.

Nun muss ich auch sagen das ich der CAPO ganz auseinander nehme um nach all diesen Jahren das Fingerspitzengefühl wieder zu bekommen. Eine gute Übung weil ich warte auf mein Abrollkipper. (noch mindestens 2 Monaten Geduld).

Auch sind alle Komponenten mit Zahnräder sehr gut gebaut. So die habe ich in Ruhe gelassen.

Muss sagen das ich mehr Spaß habe als ich dachte

Wenn ich Zeit habe sind die Kotflügeln und stützen das nächste dran. Sehr viele Schrauben und Muttern

Hi Uwe, thanks for the info on the Knupfer shop. Too bad they don't ship to Malaysia … but I can always ask my sister in Koln to order for me. She is always asking if I need something for EU.

I have to say, that I basically take this model completely to pieces to regain the skill needed for fine work. A good exercise while I wait for the roll on/off tipper I ordered. (need about 2 more months of patience)

All the parts with gears are very well assembled. That is why I left them alone.

Must say, I'm having more fun than I thought I would!

When I have time it will be the turn of the mud flaps and their supports. Lots of screws and nuts there.

Heute hatte ich mich gedacht die Kotflügeln und ihren Stutzen zu montieren wie die Leuten von Capo das machine in ihren Animation. Aber dann werde es gar nicht einfach um die Federung zu befestigen. So, habe ich die Hoffnung das es einfacher wird erst das Frame an das Getriebe zu befestigen.

Dar war gerade ein "Problem" … ein Abstand von 3 - 4 mm an der letzte Träger! … das hatte mich 30 - 40 Minuten gedauert um das zu lösen.

Today I was supposed to install the fenders and their support - the way it is shown in the provided animation. Thinking about that it would seem difficult to attach the suspension with all that stuff in place. Therefore I decided to attach the frame to the drive train first.

Immediately I ran into a little "problem" … a gap of 3 - 4 mm at the end support. Took me a good 30 - 40 minutes to figure out the solution



Die Lösung war einfach. Ich musste nur die 3 Schrauben, die der erste und etzte Unterstützung festhalten ein bisschen lösen. Dan gab es genug spiel um alles gut zu passen. Der erste Stütz ging ein Grad nach Rechts und der letze ein Grad nach Links.

The solution was simple. I only had to loosen the 3 screws that hold the first and last frame support. There was enough play to make everything fit nicely. The first went one degree to the right and the last one one degree to the left



Zolte ich doch die obere Schraube mehr eingedreht haben … jetzt ganz schwierig, eben mit den Kugelkopf Hex konnte ich nicht ran … Oh well live and learn

According to the manual, the first and last support with the nut at the bottom on the frame and the middle ones with the nut inside the frame.





Dar gibst kaum Platz zwischen der Betätiger (?) von Sperre und die Stange fürs Lenken. ARGH! wenn ich mir dieses Bild sehe … sollte ich doch zuerst die Verbindung Stange von die Sperre installiert haben … mehr Rumfummeln später.

There is not much space between the dif actuator and the steering linkage … AARGGHHH … looking at this picture I realise I should have installed the connecting rod of the differential lock … more fiddling later I guess.

Dan die Rücklichten und ihren Träger (der Träger ist das gleiche wie für die Kotflügeln) Habe das licht demontiert zu sehen wie schwer das werde um LED rein zu bauen (zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt)

Weiter geht es mit die Aufhängung - Die Abstandshalter sind gleich / ähnlich wie das Insert in der Kugelgelenk verwendet in den Lenkstangen

Die 2 Lenk Achsen sind in die zweite Stellung um das Gewicht fon Batterie, Servo etc zu halten. Die 2 andere Achsen sind in ersten postition.

Continuing with the Suspension - The spacers used are same/similar to inserts in the ball ends they use in the steering rods. The 2 steering axles are in the 2nd position, to support the weight from the batterie, Servos etc.

Den habe ich diesen Beutel gefunden mit 15 Abstandshalter. Perfect fit. Nun Hoffe ich das die nicht für ein anderes Stuck gebraucht werden.

Found this plastic bag with 15 metal spacers. Perfect fit. I just hope they are not needed in another spot.







Dar es ein Gewinde gibt and beide Seiten, ist es besser zuerst mal die Schraube ganz rein zu schrauben. Diese Schrauben habe ich nicht gesichert. Die gingen schön schwierig rein.

Because there is a thread on both sides, it is a good idea to first run the screw completely through. These screws were not treated with Loctite. They didn't go in easy at all.

Dann endlich die Kotflügeln … Dienen für die Erste Achse sind kantig (und zusammen in Beutel - Rechts Unten), die andere halb rund.

Finally the fenders … The ones for the first axle are edged (and together in a bag - bottom right), the rest half round.



Das wird mich doch einige Zeit brauchen um das alles richtig in Ordnung zu machen.

Here a comparison picture of the fuel tank … One could cut that open and insert part of the electronics. Maybe later when I have more confidence in my skills.





Das ist für einige Tagen… zu erst in Ruhe die Kotflügel zusammen setzen. Und dann beginnt die Assemblage von die Kabine. … Kan nicht weiter mit das Rahmen etc dar ich warte auf die Servos und Motor.

That's it for a couple of days. Now in all piece and quiet sorting out the fenders, and then we can start with the build of the cabin … can not go further with the frame etc, still waiting for the Servos and the motor.
