nice truck and interesting construction, but didn't you got a problem with the TLT-axles? In my opinion it's too wide.

The front rims are from a Tamiya Hummer. With the same big tires on the back tandems too the width is equal front to back. The front tires stick out a bit from the cab, but this an off road trk. Twin 12v power, 1st gear is 204.68:1 total redction, all the tires are filled with steel BB's adding 10lbs of weight to the trk. It's got tonnes of power & awesome traction - tree stump puller! LOL

Die Befestigungspunkte haben aber den gleichen Abstand wie die Truckachsen.
Sie sind nur außen breiter.

This Truck is a very nice construction.
The big tires look´s very good.:ok
If you use at the frontaxles the inside rims from the rear axles, then they have the same wide as the rear Axe or original front axle.
I have build them so at my MB 10x10.

PS: Sorry for my bad english. I will hope you understand it.

Great workhorse! I hope you'll be able to do some serious off-highway trucking with this one!

Cheers

mmmh, nicht ganz - sorry, das ist ja das Problem bei den sonst recht günstigen TLT-Achsen.

Sonst wären die ja DIE Lösung. Mit den Achsen kommst Du auf über 190mm Spurweite.

sorry - back to English: The TLT axles are a very cheap solution, cheaper than truck axles. But the gauge is more than 190mm (that's the maximum you can put under the cab) Best is a gauge between 180 and 190mm.

The axle on the top of the picture has an gauge of 180mm. The difference to the TLT axle is obvious. The axle at the bottom is an Highlift axle. That gauge is bigger than the one of a TLT axle.

Normal gauge of an standard Tamiya front axle is 180mm.:prost

Like this trk.

Winni, your english is quite good, better than many americans that I correspond with regularly & it's the only language they know. LOL

Blackbaron,

Cost is sometimes a limiting factor for me, but what effects my ability the most to build the perfect model is parts availability to get it here to Canada. I could probably obtain that top axle from Germany, but after it travelled through the hands of 2 or 3 middle men, shipping, insurance, taxes...... ect, it would just be too expensive of an option.

Besides, most ppl in my neighborhood wouldn't know it's too wide. LOL

Cheers Pippoe. :)

6 Wheelin' in the Snow

3 inches of fresh powder to play in today. I mounted the tires from the TLT 1 kit on the trk. The trk is "almost" unstoppable. What a Blast!!!! ;D

Nice pictures!

I got these lockable axles from http://www.der-getriebedoktor.de/shop2/

They work GREAT!!!

The 1st vid shows how well the lockers work.... the first few seconds the GL is spinning and going nowhere. Kick in the lockers & away it goes.

2nd vid shows the wheelie at the top of ramp. (I don't know why this vid uploaded so dark?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYvjz-zSYMw

3rd vid, the GL is taking the long way around to unload into the crusher.
